It seems that WhatsApp is committed to allowing users to further personalize their profile page, with the focus of enhancing user engagement and making profiles even more dynamic and informative. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.3.10.72 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to add social media profile links to user accounts!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of an optional feature that allows users to add social media profile links to their account, scheduled for release in a future update. A new section will be available directly in the profile settings in the future, where users can choose whether to add links to their social media profiles. This will give them the flexibility to share their presence on other platforms, making it easier for their contacts to find them elsewhere online.

It is worth noting that a similar feature is already available for businesses on WhatsApp, but with an important difference. When a business wants to add a social media profile to its WhatsApp account, it must go through an authentication process. For example, if a business chooses to link its Instagram page, it is redirected to Instagram's login page to verify ownership before the link is added. However, this authentication step does not appear to be currently available for standard WhatsApp Messenger users. This means that regular users might be able to manually enter any social media handle on their profile without verification. Since this feature is still in development, WhatsApp may decide to implement an authentication step for personal accounts before the official release. This would help ensure the accuracy of the information displayed to prevent potential misuse, such as impersonation or the sharing of misleading information.

It's important to highlight that this feature is completely optional. Users who do not wish to display their social media profiles on WhatsApp will have the choice to simply not add any links. For those who opt in, WhatsApp will offer enhanced control over the visibility of their links through privacy settings, including the option to remove them at any time, giving users full control over their personal information. At the moment, Instagram is the only supported social media platform, but there is potential for more platforms to be added in the future. This could allow users to integrate their WhatsApp profile with multiple online identities, as WhatsApp may continue to explore ways to offer greater flexibility and personalization.
